Regional Process Owner - Record to Report (EU & APAC)

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of External Reporting, the Regional Process Owner - Record to Report is a pivotal leadership position owning the end-to-end Record-to-Report (R2R) process architecture across 16 markets for the Foodora and Foodpanda brands in Europe and APAC. Operating within our SAP S/4HANA ecosystem, this role drives brand standardization, automates the close cycle, leads AI adoption, and manages strategic relationships with our Shared Service Center (SSC) and technical engineering teams.

The role will lead, direct, and mentor a dedicated team of Record to Record process owners.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Process Ownership & Standardization

• Define, enforce, and maintain the brand R2R target operating model across 16 markets, harmonizing accounting workflows between Foodora and Foodpanda entities.

• Architect a continuous close strategy in IFRS compliance, drastically reducing close cycle times while elevating data accuracy and internal controls.

SAP S/4HANA & Technical Alignment

• Serve as the primary finance bridge to IT and core technical teams, ensuring our SAP S/4HANA environment is fully optimized for external reporting, sub-ledger integrations, and automated reconciliations.

• Translate complex external reporting requirements and accounting standards changes into scalable SAP S/4HANA system specifications and automated controls.

Digital Transformation & Automation Leadership 

• Workflow Automation: Architect, deploy, and optimize end-to-end automation workflows across the R2R ecosystem (e.g., journal entries, intercompany reconciliations, fixed assets, and financial reporting). 

• AI & Machine Learning Innovation: Formulate and execute the roadmap for Artificial Intelligence and advanced automation across the brand's R2R function.

• Pilot and deploy cutting-edge AI technologies including machine-learning driven anomaly detection, automated journal entries, and predictive financial close analytics to achieve a "touchless" close environment.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Directly manage, coach, and develop the brand’s R2R process team , driving high performance and career progression.

• Govern the operational relationship with the R2R Shared Service Center (SSC), serving as the primary escalation point and championing continuous improvement.

• Partner closely with central accounting, regional finance heads, tax, and audit teams to align process changes with commercial and regulatory priorities.

• Education & Certification: Fully qualified professional accountant (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent mandatory).

• Experience: 10+ years of progressive leadership in accounting, finance transformation, or global R2R process ownership within a multinational environment.

• People Management: Proven track record of managing and developing direct teams (including people managers and individual contributors).

• ERP Systems Expertise: Demonstrable, hands-on expertise in SAP S/4HANA finance modules (FI/CO)/(FICA) and enterprise integrations. 

• AI Affinity (Strong Plus): Strong conceptual understanding and direct experience evaluating or deploying AI/ML driven finance solutions/ applications, such as predictive forecasting, natural language financial narratives, AI reconciliation matching, or advanced RPA in an R2R context

• Internal Controls: Hands on experience with  internal control design (SOX / internal compliance).

• Stakeholder Management: Track record of driving large-scale change management across cross-functional partners, SSCs, and regional leadership.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Industry Context: Experience within fast-paced Tech, Quick-Commerce, E-commerce, or Hyper-growth operational environments.

• Project Methodologies: Professional certification in Project Management or Process Improvement (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt).

• Data Analytics: Familiarity with modern data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, SQL) for close-process monitoring and reporting analytics.
