foodpanda celebrated International Women’s Day 2022 at our brand new regional office in Singapore with a series of interactive and inspiring events, both virtually and in-person.

Here’s a round-up of some of the activities that went on:

Ask Me Anything

Throughout the week, we ran ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions with our inspiring women leaders from around APAC – Ambareen Reza, Evelyn Tay, Siripa Jungsawat and Thanyalat Chaleunsouk.

Pandas across the region asked our leaders questions about anything and everything – from their favourite foodpanda delivery order, to how they deal with mum guilt and tips on how to #BreakTheBias.

Some of our favourite takeaways include:

  • On being a good leader: Be adaptable, use data, and always be emphathetic
  • On ageism and having younger leaders/managers: Age doesn’t equate to wisdom
  • On traits that help one succeed in the workplace: Have a positive attitude, focus on what you can control and keep an open mind.
  • On dealing with mum guilt: Reassure yourself with the belief that what you’re doing is the right thing

Thank you to our amazing leaders for their insightful sharing and also to our wonderful moderators, Brendon Blacker, Kiwan Ihn, Arun Makhija, Ingo Laubender, for engaging in the great conversations!

Celebrating the Lives and Inventions of Women

We partnered with the Singapore Council of Women organisation to run two exhibitions in our office – Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame and The Lives of Women Part 2. These exhibitions celebrated the impact of incredible women on Singapore’s society and how the lives of women have changed since Singapore’s independence in 1965.

We also held a virtual scavenger hunt with Cyberlite Books around our office so pandas could have fun learning about the various inventions made by women, including common items that we use today.

Women in Leadership

Then to wrap up the week, our community of female pandas, also known as #winatfoodpanda, hosted a Panel Discussion moderated by Meliza Ho, Head, Product Design (APAC) on the topic of ‘Leadership’ with our panelists, Shiran Bloch, Director of Product Design (APAC) and Jacelyn Chan, Senior Director, Legal (APAC). Each panelist shared their own personal experiences about coming up as a female in their respective roles and provided some really helpful insights for our pandas. Thank you for paving the way for our future generation of women leaders!

Purple for a Purpose

We also asked our pandas to show support for International Women’s Day this year by coming to work dressed in purple. Our thanks to all the pandas who helped us paint the office purple!

And that’s a wrap! Thanks once again to all of our speakers, moderators, partners and pandas who helped make our International Women’s Day celebrations such a success this year. While IWD may be over, join us and find ways to #BreakTheBias every day!
